Wimbly Lu
Sunday, March 02, 2014 @ 8:18 PM ✈

Wimbly Lu Chocolates
Address: 15-2 Jalan Riang Singapore 358987
Nearest MRT: Serangoon
Tel: 6289 1489
Opening hours: 12.30pm - 10.30pm (Tues - Thur),
12.30pm - 11pm (Fri),
9am - 11pm (Sat),
9am - 10.30pm (Sun)

Wimbly Lu - the magical land of Waffles. I have been wanting to visit Wimbly for the longest of time ever since I've seen photos of their waffles on my instagram feed. Wimbly Lu's forte lies in their dessert department. From their menu which is available on their website, they have a wide variety of desserts but lesser selection on the savoury food. During the day, Wimbly Lu looks just like many other cafes, warm and cosy, but at night time, Wimbly becomes really beautiful with those fairy lights. So far I've been to Wimbly twice, both visits on crowded weekend afternoons. The queue was rather long but we didn't have to wait too long till we get a table.

Waffle w salted caramel ice cream and choc sauce ($8.50)

Waffle w Mape syrup & Butter ($6)

Root beer cake w vanilla ice cream ($6)

Wimbly Lu have the best waffles in town! Plus they have been known for their consistency in their waffles! During the both times I've visited, the waffles I ordered were crisp on the outside and fluffy light in the inside. :P My boyfriend prefers their waffles with maple syrup & butter while I love the waffle with ice cream! Their homemade salted caramel ice cream tastes so good I wish I had added more scoops. Psssst they now have takeaway pints for their ice cream!

Root beer + cake? Something I've only heard of in Wimbly Lu. It was a special combination and I was definitely curious about how it'll turn out. There was a distinct taste of the root beer, and best paired with the ice cream. If I had to choose Wimbly's 2 best food to recommend, it will definitely be the waffles and this.

Molten Lava Cake ($6)

Nutella Chocolate Pie ($6)

The molten lava cake was pretty decent, but after a couple of spoonfuls of it, I felt rather sick as there was too much chocolate. Imagine the stress I felt when I still have to eat the Nutella pie next >< Definitely won't recommend anyone to order these two together on the same visit to Wimbly. Way too chocolate-y!

Overall, Wimbly Lu is definitely a cafe that I'll visit over and over again! Prices are acceptable with the quality and consistency of the food. The only con was getting to the cafe, especially if it rains.

Ending off with my ootd as usual hehe :P

Drips Bakery Cafe
Sunday, February 23, 2014 @ 8:31 PM ✈

Drips Bakery Cafe
Address: 82 Tiong Poh Road,  #01-05, Singapore 160082
Nearest MRT: Tiong Bahru/ Outram Park
Tel: 6222 0400
Opening hours: 11am - 9.30pm (Sun- Thur), 11am - 11pm (Fri & Sat)

Upon reaching the cafe, I fell in love with how peaceful the place is. I can imagine myself sitting there all day long reading a book, or having a long catch-up session with my friends. It wasn't really crowded even though I was there on a Saturday afternoon. My boyfriend and I made an impromptu trip here so we didn't really stay for long.

The interior was really simple, but it feels really relaxing to be here. It's like so warm and comfortable.

Iced Chocolate ($6.00), Iced Mocha ($6.50), Chocolate de Tart and Macadamia Nut tart

"We specialize in Tarts" - this is what we saw before entering the cafe. The staff told me that the fruit tarts were the best here, but sadly it was already sold out before I came. She then nicely recommended us to other tarts after asking our preference, which was the Macadamia Nut ($8.00) tart for my nut-loving boyfriend and Chocolate de Tart ($6.80) for me. Other than tarts, Drips also offers desserts like cakes, tea cakes and cookies, and more tummy filling food like sandwiches, soups, salads, breads.

In the end, we ended up switching cause I loved the macadamia tart while he preferred the chocolate one. I like how the Chocolate tart isn't too sweet despite it being entirely chocolate mousse inside but I loved the macadamia tart. The macadamia nuts were crunchy and fragrant, and the caramel holding the nuts weren't too sweet as it kinda normalized the rather bland "cake" beneath. Drinks wise, I preferred the Iced chocolate but we ended up exchanging drinks as well cause Stefan regretted his decision to order coffee; he dislikes coffee. And till now I still don't understand why he ordered Iced mocha in the first place.

Chye Seng Huat Hardware
@ 5:58 PM ✈

Sorry for the almost 3 month long hiatus here! Haven't been using my laptop for a long time and now I have loads of drafts accumulated for all the cafes I've been to during this period! So here it goes!

Chye Seng Huat Hardware Coffee Bar
Address: 150 Tyrwhitt Road, Singapore 207563
Nearest MRT: Lavender
Tel: 6396 0609
Opening hours: 9am - 7pm (Tues-Fri), 9am - 10pm (Sat-Sun), Closed on Mondays

When I first heard its name, I didn't believe it was a cafe, until my sister showed me the Google search results. So from what I've googled, "Chye Seng Huat Hardware is the successive coffee bar form the guys behind Papa Palheta and Loysel's Toy"......and I'm sure many other food blogs have written up a long paragraph on their history so I shall just skip this. Although the cafe looks run down from the outside, but once entered, it's a whole new different look.

Moving on, I didn't manage to get photos of the interior as I visited on a Sunday afternoon sometime before Christmas, and it was really crowded. There were seats indoors and outdoors, and I felt it was rather unique there was a 360 degree view of the bar where we can watch the baristas at work.

Aside from the list on the menu, there was also a variety of baked goods at the bar counter. My girlfriends and I skipped the dessert and went for the proper food aka "tummy-fillers". Do note that their kitchen closes at 5pm daily!

2 espressos with milk and my peppermint cappuccino (Christmas special) which tasted like traditional chinese medicine (TCM). T.T
Although CSHH is famous for their coffee, to be honest I felt that it was rather normal (the espresso w milk) and I've definitely had better ones elsewhere.

French Toast with Butterscotch Sauce & Bananas ($11)

Blinis with Cream Cheese & Smoked Salmon ($12)

Scrambled Eggs with Bacon ($11)

No idea why do I always end up getting the worst food ): I didn't really enjoy my scrambled eggs and "TCM" coffee, though I had some great time pinching off my girlfriends' dishes :P The Blinis with Cream Cheese & Smoked Salmon was a rather decent and filling main dish, but since I'm not really a pancake fan I doubt I'll be able to finish it entirely myself without feeling sick. The french toast however, is one I'm sure I can polish off all by myself! ^^

Ending off with a pretty (edited from iphone) photo of my disappointing scrambled eggs and peppermint cappuccino. I wish it tasted as good as it looks ):

The Line @ Shangri-La Hotel
Monday, December 02, 2013 @ 11:22 PM ✈

The Line @ Shangri-La Hotel
Address: Shangri-La Hotel, 22 Orange Grove Road, Singapore 258350
Tel: 6213 4275
Operating hours: 5am - 1am daily

The Line is said to be one of the best buffet restaurants in Singapore, hence Stefan and I decided that we have to try their weekday lunch buffet since it was cheaper & that they offer oysters during the lunch buffet too. It isn't exactly that cheap, but since it was our 2nd year anniversary.... I would recommend booking a table in advance to avoid getting the seats outdoor. The outdoor seats are sheltered and rather cooling, but it's not really nice to see birds swooning over to the just-emptied tables beside you while you're eating.

The weekday lunch buffet is from 12 noon to 2.30pm, at $47++ per pax. It's actually the typical international buffet where you'll find a selection of local, Indian, Western, Chinese and Japanese (there are others of course) cuisine. Frankly speaking, I only have international buffets for the oysters, sashimis (and other seafood) and desserts. Not quite interested in those rice, noodles actually >< They just don't appeal to me.  But still, I made myself eat a little of those, otherwise it's quite a waste for my $50 lol.

The dimsum offered wasn't really fascinating as the skin was too thick. In fact, I felt like it was a waste of stomach space. Among the Indian cuisine I tried, only the kebab was good. My partner like their naan though, he said it was soft even though it wasn't hot/warm. According to him, the naan he eats at other places are usually cold and hard.

Japanese cuisine, my love. I set sky high standards for Japanese cuisine. To me, The Line's jap food didn't have enough variety for the sushi selection and the cold noodles was disappointing too. I was quite satisfied with their sashimi though, love the fresh thick slices (:

Oysterssss <3 filters="" for="" fresh="" from="" huge="" i="" instagram.="" it="" love="" my="" nbsp="" p="" pardon="" pic="" prawns="" really="" seafood="" second="" slurp="" slurpppp.="" super="" the="" took="" were="">

This is probably where all (maybe 90%) of my stomach space went to ._. They have an impressive selection of desserts. I was totally eyeing the desserts booth the moment I entered the restaurant and I seriously took one of each to try. There were a few hits and miss though. In short, go for all those on my first plate (except the blueberry pie and scone), and the durian cake, hazelnut chocolate cake, strawberry shortcake on my second plate. :P There were also traditional kuehs and seductive chocolate fondue available but I was too bloated after eating all the western pastries. Quite sad that I actually forgot about the ice creams ):

Perhaps I've expected too much from The Line because of all the reviews I've read. I feel that there can be other better buffet restaurants, but I'll only give my final verdict after trying their dinner buffet. Do check out The Line's website for the buffet timings they have! Anyway I'm still on the lookout for good & affordable buffet places with oysters for their lunch buffets. Any recommendations? (:

November 18th
Thursday, November 21, 2013 @ 9:12 PM ✈

大家好! Back to update on Monday as promised. The original plan for the day was to head to SEA aquarium, lunch at The Line and finally Garden by the Bay in the evening. So disappointed when I checked the website for the operating hours and saw that certain parts of the Garden by the Bay will be closed for maintenance. ): Well even if we stick to the original plan we wouldn't have enough time to cover everything also >< This post will be filled with lots of photos, but I'll try my best to choose only the nicer ones uh :P

Btw, the only "editing" I do for my photos are cropping, except for those photos I took from my instagram.

I really really love the jellyfishes! Super pretty, especially when the lights are changing from blue to red, green, orange and yellow etc.

No idea why they were kissing ><

This boy really 很爱演..

My favorite photo of the day, finally taught him how to smile naturally at the camera! I love his smile, but I was never able to capture it when I was spamming photos of us for these 2 years.

Love, Bonito Collete top; super love the back design. It's like snake and ladder on my back :D

The handsome boy's ootd; Topman jeans and Aldo shoes.

Dear S, I don't know if you'll ever read this, but thank you for all that you've done for me during these 2 years. Thank you for tolerating me when I always lose my temper easily and when I whine so much, especially when I'm sick, pms-ing or having the time of the month. I know it hasn't always been a smooth journey for us, but we always manage to come back stronger, closer and more sure of us. No relationships are without the down parts, I'm sure we'll continue to make it through all the obstacles awaiting us in future. We'll make it work together. I love you Stefan.
