easy tips to soothe tired, aching feet
Monday, September 02, 2013 @ 7:25 PM ✈

Ever had those nights where your legs ached so much you couldn't sleep? Or even wake up in the middle of the night due to those ever-so-annoying cramps? These are signs that you're not taking good care for your tired feet and legs. We spend most of our time awake standing, walking, running; worse still, trotting around in the most uncomfortable shoes or heels. Since many can withstand the entire day in uncomfortable shoes just to look good, why not spend a little time before you sleep to soothe of your tired, aching, sore or swollen feet?

1. Soaking your feet
This is probably the most common yet effective way to soothe aching feet. It doesn't even take up much time, and all you need is a tub of warm water. Place your leg into the tub for 15-30 minutes while you watch your favorite TV shows, read a book or even while you're applying cucumber masks on your face.

2. Foot and leg massage
I'm not saying you should visit the massage parlours to get foot/leg massages everyday, though pampering your legs once in a while will be good. Simple massages can be done every night at home, while applying lotions/moisturizers. It will be a plus if there's rubbing oil with relaxing scents.

3. Lifting them up
This is something we often do when we sprain our legs. Raising your swollen feet above your heart level for about 30 minutes aids in blood and fluid circulation.

4. Insoles
Adding insoles in your shoes provide extra support for your feet, hence making your shoes feel more comfortable and your feet less tired/sore.

We should always pay attention to our feet and legs, as it's our legs that bring us around, it's our legs that are constantly supporting, withstanding the weight of our bodies as we stand, walk or run. The above tips should work effectively in reducing the ache in your feet, though I believe we should always start by wearing comfortable shoes with the right fit.
